Today we’re replacing the glass on an iPhone 16 Pro Max for the first time.
We carefully remove the display from the housing. In the iPhone 16 series, the display is glued in extremely well, and it’s noticeably harder to remove than on previous models!
The hardest part of working with a cracked screen is removing it without damaging the touch layer or the display panel itself 😅
After removing the damaged module, we follow the standard procedure: place the screen on a separator, heat the glass, and use a cutting wire to separate the broken glass from the display panel.
After separation, the display panel has noticeably warped 🫢
Here's a photo of the removed glass and the display module. We check functionality after this stage before proceeding further.
We clean off the OCA film and prepare the surface for bonding with the new display glass.
The new glass already comes with OCA film pre-applied!
We press the new glass onto the display and place the assembly into a vacuum press.
Then we use a pressure chamber (autoclave) to remove any remaining air between the glass and the display panel.
The display looks like new 🙃
We test it again and reinstall it into the housing, applying fresh adhesive around the edges.
