At last, a fairly rare device made it to our repair desk – the Huawei Watch Fit 3.
It’s clear the watch suffered a lot during fitness training ๐.
The display is so badly damaged that even the glass completely came off, leaving only the matrix. But even the matrix itself is broken!
As you can see in the photo, the display was glued around the frame with sealant to the case, and there’s nothing underneath it.
So, if you’re not replacing the display, there’s no need to remove it!
Disassembly starts from the plastic back cover.
Everything here is standard: heat up the cover to soften the adhesive, then use a plastic film tool to cut through the adhesive layer and separate the cover from the case.
The back cover only has a pair of magnets and the charging contact pads built into it.
In the photo, you can see the layout of the motherboard and its components.
The battery in this device is soldered to the mainboard, and the contacts are sealed with gel.
A soldering iron will be required to disconnect the battery.
A metal bracket holds the flex cables for the display and the speaker with sensors.
Slide the bracket to the left and remove it.
Disconnect the display module flex cable and take it out.
โ๏ธIf the goal of the repair is to replace the display module, from this point you can already connect the new one for testing.
If everything works fine, you can proceed with installing the display and reassembling the watch.
Unscrew five screws using a 1.5 mm Phillips screwdriver (Phillips #000).
Disconnect the flex cable that connects the sensors and speaker to the motherboard connector.
Peel the cable off the case and remove the speaker from the housing.
Desolder the vibration motor contacts from the motherboard.
Remove the motherboard from the case.
The buttons and vibration motor remain in the case.
Clean the frame surface from old adhesive and degrease it.
Apply polyurethane glue around the frame.
Install the new display, then glue the back cover back in place.
Put the watch under a press or hold down the glued areas for 4–5 hours until the adhesive sets.
