Apple iPhone 14 Plus

⚠️ Before disassembling, do not forget to turn your phone off.

An iPhone 14 Plus was brought in for repair due to randomly restarting approximately 3 to 5 times per minute.

We check the diagnostics and review the device restart reports.

Starting from iOS 13 and above, the error code has a numerical value, and in this case, it is 0x400000, which points to the wireless charging cable.

It’s great that on iPhone 14 and 14 Plus models, the back cover can be removed separately, making the repair much easier! 😁

1️⃣ Remove the back cover along with the wireless charging cable attached to it.

This cable also includes the microphone and flash.

Visually, the cable shows no damage, but near the connector area, the cable has been bent multiple times, and it’s possible that some traces have broken in this spot.

2️⃣ Remove the brackets holding the microphone and flash, and detach the cable from the cover.

3️⃣ The new cable does not come with the wireless charging coil, so we’ll only replace the cable itself.

For this, we need to de-solder four contacts from the cable, three on one side.

4️⃣ One more contact needs to be de-soldered from the opposite side.

5️⃣ Prepare the new cable.

6️⃣ Solder the four contacts to the wireless charging coil and place the cable back in position.

Reattach the brackets and connect the cover to the device for testing.

Test the functions related to the cable – charging, flash, and microphone.

The most important test is for restarts. Play a long video, mute the sound, and leave the phone aside for a couple of hours.

If the video continues to play for several hours, it means the phone did not restart, and we can glue the cover and fully reassemble the phone 👍.
