Samsung Galaxy A53 SM-A536

A Samsung A53 came in for repair with issues: the touchscreen wasn’t responding, and the screen occasionally went black.

Based on our experience, this model is quite problematic and often suffers from the same recurring issues. 😒

One of the most common problems in smartphones over the past few years — including the Samsung A53 — is fragile connectors on the boards and flex cables.

Even minor physical impacts can damage these, leading to a range of issues like no charging, no display, unresponsive touch, or malfunctioning mic and speaker.

1️⃣ So, we start by disassembling the phone.

Upon inspection, all connectors appeared intact, which pointed to an issue with the mainboard itself.

Under a microscope, we found damage on the thinnest part of the motherboard—specifically where the metal shield is soldered—revealing a damaged top PCB layer.

Interestingly, Samsung eventually recognized this design flaw, and some later boards don’t have factory solder in this area, which helps prevent this kind of failure.

Unfortunately, that’s not the case here 😂

We desolder the metal shield covering the modem area and remove a small section of the frame near the processor.

Using a scalpel under the microscope, we carefully remove the top PCB layer to expose the underlying traces.

We discover two broken connections that needed to be repaired.

Under the microscope, we use ultra-thin copper wire to solder and reconnect the damaged traces. 😌

We insert the board back into the phone frame for testing.

Everything is working fine now—both the display and touchscreen are responsive. All that’s left is to reassemble the device.
