Samsung Galaxy A54 SM-A546

This smartphone came in for repair with the owner's complaint: doesn't turn on, doesn't charge.

1️⃣ Disassembling the smartphone.

First thing I checked was the charging port, but everything looked fine there 😊

2️⃣ Applied voltage to the motherboard from a lab power supply.

The meter showed 0.04A current draw, and when pressing the power button it immediately jumped to 0.41A.

3️⃣ At this current level, there was noticeable board heating - just needed to locate exactly what was getting hot.

Diagnostics showed the charging controller SM5714 was overheating! That's where we'll start! 😀

By the way, this same controller is used in already quite old Samsung A12 models!

4️⃣ Cutting out a section of the metal shield to access the chip.

5️⃣ Removing the failed controller and installing a new one.

Testing with the power supply shows the abnormal current draw is gone and the power button response is now normal.

Temporarily installing the board in the case for testing.

The phone now turns on and charges normally.

After testing all the smartphone's main functions, we can fully assemble and return a working device! 🔥
