Samsung Galaxy A54 SM-A546

🛠 Difficulty: 🟢🟡⚪️

⏰️ Repair time: 45 minutes

This Samsung Galaxy A54 came in for repair with a mobile network issue. The phone only detects a 2G signal, but it’s impossible to make or receive calls.

We disassemble the smartphone and remove the main board.

Although the primary modem section is located on this side of the board, the repair should start with the signal amplifier chip 77098b, which is on the reverse side under a metal shield.

We cut out a small section of the metal shield to access the chip.

The amplifier (77098b) in this Samsung A54 is the same one used in the previous model, the Samsung A53.

Because of this, the new model suffers from the same network issues 😁

Using a soldering station, we remove the amplifier. It’s often covered in compound, so some extra care is needed.

We prepare the new chip for installation.

We install the new signal amplifier in place.

We cover the cut-out section with Kapton tape and reinstall the heat sink.

We place the board back into the phone’s housing to test it.

The network signal is back, and calls are now working across all bands 👍
