Samsung Galaxy S21 FE SM-G990

🛠 Difficulty: 🟢🟡⚪️

⏰️ Repair time: 60 minutes

Another Samsung S21 FE came in for repair with a problem — Wi-Fi and Bluetooth were not working.

In the settings, the switches can be turned on, but no networks are found at all.

The customer said the issue appeared after the phone was dropped on the floor.

As usual, we disassemble the device and perform a visual inspection. Everything looks fine at first glance.

So, we start by removing the Wi-Fi/Bluetooth chip - the small microchip responsible for wireless communication.

This microchip is located in the upper part of the motherboard.

Using a soldering station, we remove the chip.

There are no visible broken contacts or other damage underneath it.

Therefore, the cause of the issue is most likely the chip itself, so we’ll install a new Wi-Fi/Bluetooth chip.

Using a stencil and soldering paste, we prepare and reball the new Wi-Fi chip.

With the soldering station, we install the new chip onto the motherboard.

We place the mainboard back into the housing for testing.

The smartphone now connects to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth networks and works perfectly.
