We start by disassembling the phone.
Typically, in these models, the problem lies with the flex cable connector on the main board, but not this time. Under the microscope, the connector looks perfect. We continue our investigation.
We discover a crack in the plastic of the flex cable connector on the lower board.
Carefully, we try to move the corner of the connector with tweezers and confirm that part of it is detached. Therefore, a complete replacement is required.
Additionally, we inspect the system port and notice that it is heavily worn, with the plastic edges inside being worn down. Since we are disassembling the lower board, we decide to replace the system port as well; it’s a simple task and will greatly please the customer.
We remove the old connectors and prepare new ones.
We solder everything back into place and reassemble the phone.
Now, the phone charges properly in all modes.
