Step 2. Remove the tray
First of all, we need to remove the card tray.
To do this, we use a special tool, insert it into the hole and carefully push out the card tray.
Step 3. Open the display module
After that we need to heat the surface of the back cover to a temperature of approximately 70 degrees Celsius or 160 degrees Fahrenheit. For this we use a heating mat, or a hair dryer.
And after 5 to 7 minutes, we can move on to detaching the back cover.
To detach the back cover, we use a thin plastic film, insert it into the gap between the back cover and the middle cover and gently run it along the edge, cutting off the adhesive base.
â ī¸ī¸ As always, we need to be careful around the cameras and around the fingerprint sensor, as the fingerprint sensor itself is located on the back cover and the cable from the fingerprint sensor goes to the motherboard.
â ī¸ī¸ And, after detaching the back cover, we have to carefully turn the cover over so as not to damage the fingerprint sensor cable.
Step 4. Unscrew one screw
We turn the cover over and we need to use a one and a half millimeter Phillips screwdriver or a Philips #000. Unscrew one screw, and remove the connector bracket with a non-metallic tool.
Step 5. Disconnect the connector
Gently disconnect the fingerprint sensor connector, then carefully set the back cover aside.
Step 6. Unscrew the screws
Next, it's time to unscrew the nine screws. Use a 1.5mm Phillips screwdriver or a Phillips #000. If you encounter any screws that are difficult to remove, utilize a magnetizer for assistance, or tweezers if they are lodged.
For better organization, place the screws on a designated surface in a specific order. This is important because the screws vary in color and potentially in size, which will facilitate the reassembly process for you.
Step 7. Unscrew the screws
After the previous step, proceed to unscrew the six silver screws. Ensure you use the appropriate Phillips #000 screwdriver.
Carefully remove each screw, and remember to keep them organized, as their specific placement is crucial for reassembly.
Step 8. Unscrew the screws
And, we continue to unscrew the screws, we - unscrew the six screws at the bottom. The screwdriver is the same.
Step 9. Open the middle cover
And after that we can proceed to detaching the middle cover.
To do this, use a thin tool, insert it into the gap between the middle cover and the display frame and gently run it along the edge of the middle cover disconnecting it.
â ī¸ī¸ Be very careful at the corners, as the cover is held tightly there and you need to be careful not to damage the display edge.
Step 10. Remove the bracket
We need to disconnect the battery connector.
To do this, we need to detach the bracket that secures connectors first.
Carefully detach it and put it aside.
Step 11. Disconnect the battery connector
Disconnect the battery connector as soon as you can. Use a non-metallic or plastic tool to avoid any damage.
âšī¸ī¸ The Honor 8X Max ARE-L22HN model has a battery HB4073A5ECW with a capacity of 5000 mAh (also known as a rechargeable battery).
Step 12. Remove the inter-board cable
And we can disconnect the connectors on the both circuit boards and remove the inter-board cable.
âšī¸ī¸ An arrow on the FFC cable (flexible flat cable) indicates its correct position.
Step 13. Remove the loudspeaker
Then we can detach the loudspeaker. We find the right place, hook, lift and remove the speaker to the side.
Step 15. Remove the daughterboard
And we move on to detaching the sub-board. We also find the right place where we can gently hook, lift and remove the sub-board.
The sub-board contains the microphone, charging port, headset port, and other elements on the back side.
Step 16. Remove the earpiece speaker
Next, let's detach the earpiece speaker at the top. With precision and care, gently hook the edge, lift it, and seamlessly remove the speaker.
Step 17. Remove the cameras
Now, we can proceed to detach the cameras. With delicate precision, gently hook the edge, lift them, and carefully place them aside.
Make sure to hold them securely to prevent any accidental damage or sudden movement.
Step 18. Disconnect the connectors
We move on to disconnecting the connectors on the motherboard.
We disconnect the connector of the coaxial cable, disconnect the connector of the display cable and connector of the cable to the side buttons.
The last one has a small lock, which we need to snap off.
Step 19. Remove the motherboard
And we can detach the motherboard.
As always, we find the right place where we carefully lift and remove the motherboard.
The motherboard as you can see on the back side can be held in place by thermal paste.
Step 20. Remove the battery
And finally, we move on to detaching the battery.
Traditionally for Huawei or Honor phones we have three brown tabs with the numbers 1, 2 and 3. Those tabs, which are located on the edges we need to turn to the side as much as possible, and the tab, which is located in the middle, we need to gently pull up to remove the battery.
â ī¸ī¸ It is important to unfold the tabs so that they do not interfere with detaching the battery. We also need to carefully bend the display cable back to prevent any accidental damage.
Step 21. In the display frame remained
âšī¸ī¸ In the display frame remained: the vibration motor, cables.
