Step 2. Remove the tray
First, as usual, we need to remove the SIM tray.
To do this, we use a SIM-eject tool, insert it into the hole, and push the tray out.
Step 3. Open the back cover
Next, we need to heat the surface of the back cover to approximately 70°C, or 160°F. We use a heating mat for this, but you can also use a hair dryer.
After approximately 10 minutes, we can start removing the back cover. For this, we use a thin plastic film. Carefully insert it into the gap between the back cover and the middle frame, and run it along the edge to cut through the adhesive.
As always, you need to be careful around the side buttons and the fingerprint sensor because there are flex cables located there. And, of course, be careful around the camera cover, because it is additionally glued down and can be quite difficult to separate.
Also, it’s better not to push the tool too far inside because we don’t know exactly what is located underneath the back cover and around the cameras, we could accidentally touch and damage the camera lenses.
Around the camera cover, carefully pry it up, press down, and separate the back cover.
Step 4. Remove plugs
After that, it’s better to cover the camera lenses. We use a special protective film for this.
Note that we apply the film not directly to the lenses, but to the rim. This type of film is now sold in many stores; you can find it on Amazon or elsewhere.
One of the screws is covered by a special rubber plug. We remove it.
Step 5. Unscrew the screws
Make sure to take note of this as well, and don’t remove the cover until you have removed the screw (covered by a special rubber plug).
Next, we move on to removing the screws from the upper section. We use a 1.5 mm Phillips screwdriver, or a Phillips #000.
Notice that the screws are difficult to remove and don’t come out easily.
In this case, it’s better to use tweezers and a magnetic pickup tool as well.
Step 7. Unscrew one screw
We remove one of the screws which is also a different size, so it is really important to remember its correct position.
We also remove the bracket.
Step 9. Open the cover
After that, we can carefully remove the cover.
Notice that one of the cameras remains attached to the middle frame, but it can be disconnected.
Step 10. Disconnect the battery connector
Next, we disconnect the two battery connectors using a non-metallic tool.
ℹ️️ The Huawei Nova 14 Pro MIA-LX9 uses a HB506488EXW-11 rechargeable battery with a capacity of 5500 mAh.
Step 11. Disconnect the connectors
Disconnect the fingerprint sensor cable connector, disconnect the connector for the side buttons, and disconnect the display flex cable connector and the interconnect flex cable connector.
Also disconnect the two connectors for the two coaxial cables and move the cables aside so they don’t get in our way.
Step 12. Unscrew the screws
Now we move on to the lower section.
First, we remove the screws in the lower section. We use a 1.5 mm Phillips screwdriver, or a Phillips #000.
It’s better to keep these screws separate from the ones we removed earlier.
And, of course, the screws don’t always fit properly into the wrong holes, so it’s better to remember their correct positions.
Step 14. Disconnect the connectors
We disconnect the interconnect flex cable connector, and disconnect the coaxial cable connector.
The coaxial cable runs in a channel inside the lower part of the cover.
Carefully remove the protective covering and disconnect the coaxial cable.
Take it out of the channel and move it aside so it doesn’t get in our way.
Step 15. Remove the loudspeaker
Now we can remove the cover. As before, pry it up at the appropriate point, carefully lift it, and remove the cover.
The speaker is attached to the cover, so set it aside.
Step 17. Remove the sub-board
Now nothing is preventing us from removing the sub-board. Carefully pry it up and remove it.
As we can see, the sub-board contains the charging port and the SIM card connector, while the microphone is located on the other side.
The vibration motor remains in the display frame.
Step 18. Remove the cameras
Now we can start removing the assembly with the two rear cameras.
Carefully pry it up by the edge, disconnect it, and move the rear cameras aside.
We can also peel away the heat-conductive foil from the front-facing cameras and carefully disconnect them, then move them aside as well.
It’s also better to cover the front camera lenses with protective film so that no dirt or dust gets onto them.
Step 19. Unscrew the screws
We also need to remove two screws.
They appear to be the same as the previous screws, but it’s better to keep them separate just in case.
And, of course, the holes for these screws are different, so if we remember their positions, it won’t be a problem to reinstall the screws in the correct locations.
Step 20. Remove the motherboard
Now we can remove the motherboard. Pry it up by the edge and lift it.
By the way, the motherboard may be held in place by thermal paste on the back side.
