Step 1. Before disassembling!

Step 2. Remove the tray

At the very beginning we need to remove the card tray for this we take a special tool, insert it into the hole and push out the combined tray for sim cards and memory cards.

Step 3. Open the back cover

We need to heat the surface of the back cover to approximately 70° C or 160° F. For this we use a heating pad you can use a hair dryer.

And after five to ten minutes, we can proceed to disassembly.

To detach the back cover, we use a plastic film, it can be a protective film from a new display or a film from a stationery store. We insert it into the gap between the display frame and the back cover and run it along the edge cutting off the adhesive base.

Usually, the back cover is very firmly glued, so you need to be careful. On the back cover, there is a fingerprint sensor with contact pad.

Actually, that's why the cover is glued really tightly.

Step 4. Unscrew the screws

After that we need to unscrew the seven screws, we use a 1.5mm Phillips screwdriver or #000.

The screws seem to be all the same, but we still recommend placing them on a special surface in an easy to remember order, just in case.

Step 5. Unscrew the screws

Using a screwdriver Phillips 1.5 mm (PH #000), unscrew the seven screws at the bottom.

Step 6. Remove the loudspeaker

And we need a non-metal tool to detach the cover with the loudspeaker and antenna transmission lines. We find the right place where we can pry, lift and remove the cover.

Step 7. Open the cover

We need to detach the cover hiding the motherboard using a non-metallic tool.

We also find the right place where we can pry, lift and remove the cover with an NFC, wireless charging and, antenna transmission lines.

Step 8. Disconnect the battery connector

Disconnect the battery connector as soon as you can. Use a non-metallic or plastic tool to avoid any damage.

ℹī¸ī¸ The LG V40 ThinQ V405 model has a battery BL-T37 with a capacity of 3300 mAh (also known as a rechargeable battery).

Step 9. Disconnect the connectors

Then we disconnect the front camera connector, disconnect the display connector, disconnect the coaxial cable connector and also disconnect the connector connecting the sub-board to the motherboard from the inside.

Step 10. Remove the motherboard

After that we find the right place where we can hook and lift the motherboard. Make sure there is nothing in the way and remove the motherboard.

⚠ī¸ī¸ Do not bend the circuit board when removing it or push tools under it. Unbeknownst to yourself, you can damage components or cables from the inside.

Step 11. Remove the front camera

We can pry up and take out the front camera assembly, which is slightly recessed into the display frame.

Step 12. Remove the cameras

And we can detach the rear cameras. Carefully disconnect the connectors and take out one camera and then the assembly of two rear cameras.

Step 13. Disconnect the connector

We move on to disconnecting the headset jack port connector on the sub-board.

Step 14. Remove the daughterboard

We try to detach the cable that connects the sub-board to the motherboard. And then, of course, we need to remove the sub-board.

Carefully, using a thin tool, we peel off the cable and also carefully detach the sub-board.

⚠ī¸ī¸ Please note that from the sub-board there is a small cable with a microphone, which is also glued to the display frame, and which we need to carefully unglue.

On the sub-board we have the charging port and the microphone, and other elements on the back side.

Step 15. Remove the battery

We move on to detach the battery.

In the beginning we try to gently lift the battery a little to run the plastic film. Finding the right spot we lift the battery, run the film and try to cut off the adhesive base.

Step 16. Unscrew one screw

Using a 1.5 mm Phillips screwdriver we unscrew one screw securing the headset jack port in place.

Step 17. Remove the headphone jack

We hook by the edge, lift up and remove the headset jack port. Which is also recessed into the display frame.

Step 18. In the display frame remained
