Step 2. Remove the tray
Use the ejection tool (aka Needle) or Paperclip. Push the tip all the way into the hole until the tray ejects, and then pull the tray of SIM and Memory card (Micro SD) out.
â ī¸ī¸ Pay attention! The tool must be inserted into a hole on the edge of the phone's housing. Do not press too hard. It may break the tray eject mechanism.

Step 3. Open the back cover
We recommend using a special heating device such as a separator machine, heat gun, or heating mat. It will simplify the process. You can use a home hairdryer, but you will have to make a nozzle by hand or have a suitable one in the kit to gently heat and concentrate the heat flow in the right place.
âšī¸ī¸ The surface of the back cover must be heated to soften the adhesive underneath. The approximate heating temperature is 50° C / 125° F.
Use a thin plastic film or pick for separation. To facilitate the process, you can use isopropyl alcohol. It is often most difficult to pass the tool between the parts to be divided. Choose the far edge from the FFC cables or buttons.
Do not use a lever or any force for separation that could damage the elements inside.
âšī¸ī¸ Be careful! The back cover is glued not only around and along the edge but at some spots on the middle covers around the cameras, fingerprint sensor, contact pads.

Step 5. Open the middle cover
Pry around the edges. Move an opening tool along the edge detaching the clips and remove the middle cover with NFC, Wireless charging, loudspeaker and antenna pads and tracks. The middle cover protects the printed circuit board (PCB).
Try to lift the cover by the edges and don't push anything too far inside, so as not to accidentally break or short-circuit anything on the circuit boards.

Step 6. Disconnect the battery connector
Disconnect the battery connector as soon as possible.
âšī¸ī¸ The LG V50 ThinQ model has a battery BL-T42 with 4000 mAh capacity (aka rechargeable battery).
â ī¸ī¸ It is highly recommended to disconnect the connector to avoid possible short circuits during disassembly.
Also, try not to use a metal tool to disconnect the rechargeable battery connector or do it carefully.

Step 7. Remove the loudspeaker
Pry carefully around the edges, disconnect the connector, and remove the loudspeaker assembly with antennas and contact pads (for devices).

Step 8. Remove the front camera
Pry up the connector and remove the assembly of the two front cameras.
The edge of the middle frame may protrude forward, preventing removal of the front cameras, so you can disconnect the cameras connector, bend it up, and remove it after removing the motherboard.

Step 9. Remove the headphone port
Disconnect the connector, pry around the edges and remove the headphone jack socket.

Step 10. Disconnect the connectors
Disconnect three coaxial cables connectors, display module cable connector.
â ī¸ī¸ Do not pull on the cable or pry it with a sharp tool. The connectors are pretty weak and break easily, or the cable falls out of the end (lug).

Step 11. Remove the motherboard
Carefully detach the motherboard. Lift the far side (where are the cameras) enough to disconnect the inter-board cable connector, which connects both circuit boards. It is located on the inner side.
Carefully remove the printed circuit board. There is no need to use a lever or try to reach the circuit board by force. Make sure that nothing is getting in the way or holding the circuit board.
â ī¸ī¸ Do not bend the circuit board when removing it or push tools under it. Unbeknownst to yourself, you can damage components or cables from the inside.

Step 12. Remove the daughterboard
The microphone is on a tiny cable, as well as a little glued to the surface. Remember this when detaching it.
Unstick the small board with connector, peel the wide flat cable off and remove the sub-board. The charging port is sunken into the side frame a little.
âšī¸ī¸ The sub-board contains a charging port (Micro-USB), microphone, spring contacts for the speaker, and an antenna unit.
â ī¸ī¸ It is not necessary to insert the tool underneath when removing the sub-board. Internal components could be damaged.
