Disassembly/Repair of the mobile device Nokia 5 (2017) TA-1053 with each step description and the required set of tools.

Use the ejection tool (aka Needle) or Paperclip. Push the tip all the way into the hole until the tray ejects, and then pull the tray out. Should do it for each of the SIM and Memory card (Micro SD) trays.

⚠️️ Pay attention! The tool must be inserted into a hole on the edge of the phone's housing. Do not press too hard. It may break the tray eject mechanism.

⚠️️ Pay attention! Disassembly has a maximum 3rd difficulty because the process begins with the disassembly of the display module. If you have no experience or are not sure of your skills, we strongly recommend that you contact a specialized service center.

It will simplify the process. You can use a home hairdryer, but you will have to make a nozzle by hand or have a suitable one in the kit to gently heat and concentrate the heat flow in the right place.

ℹ️️ The surface of the display module must be heated to soften the adhesive underneath. The approximate heating temperature is 50° C / 125° F.

Use a thin plastic film or pick for separation. To facilitate the process, you can use isopropyl alcohol. It is often the most difficult to pass the tool between the parts to be divided. Choose the far edge from the FFC cables or buttons.

Do not use a lever or any force for separation that could damage the elements inside.

Using a screwdriver (Phillips 1.5 mm PH000), unscrew one screw and remove the bracket holding the battery and display connectors.

Disconnect the battery connector as soon as possible. It is better to use a non-metal or plastic tool to avoid any damage.

ℹ️️ The Nokia 5 (2017) TA-1053 model has a battery HE321 with 2900 mAh capacity (aka rechargeable battery).

⚠️️ It is highly recommended to disconnect the connector to avoid possible short circuits during disassembly.

Disconnect the display module connector and remove the display.

Using a screwdriver (Phillips 1.5 mm PH000), unscrew 17 screws.

Pry over the edges. Move an opening tool along the edge detach the clips and remove the middle cover with an earpiece speaker, battery, and antenna pads and tracks. The middle cover protects the printed circuit board (PCB).

Try to lift the cover by the edges and don't push anything too far inside, so as not to accidentally break or short-circuit anything on the circuit board.

Pry at the bottom and remove the earpiece speaker.

⚠️️ Be careful! The earpiece speaker is glued a bit with adhesive.

⚠️️ If we pry the speaker in the middle we may break the earpiece speaker in half.

Using a screwdriver (Phillips 1.5 mm PH000), unscrew the three screws securing the sub-board.

Using a screwdriver (Phillips 1.5 mm PH000), unscrew the three screws and remove the bracket holding the connectors.

Disconnect the connector of the coaxial cable and the inter-board cable connector.

Remove the sub-board. It may be glued to the frame or attached with attachments like latches or hooks, so be careful.

ℹ️️ The sub-board contains a charging port (Micro USB), microphone, vibration motor, spring contacts for the speaker, and an antenna unit.

⚠️️ It is not necessary to insert the tool underneath when removing the sub-board. Internal components could be damaged.

⚠️️ The inter-board cable is located on the inside, so you need to separate the sub-board with care.

Peel off the inter-board cable.

ℹ️️ An arrow on the FFC cable (flexible flat cable) indicates its correct position.

Using a screwdriver (Phillips 1.5 mm PH000), unscrew one screw securing the loudspeaker.

Pry over the edge and remove the loudspeaker assembly with antennas.

Using a screwdriver (Phillips 1.5 mm PH000), unscrew the five screws securing the motherboard.

Disconnect the connector on the motherboard and remove the rear camera.

Pry up the connector of the side buttons cable, coaxial cable.

⚠️️ Be careful when removing the cables from the connectors, the cables are pretty thin, and it is easy enough to break them or damage the contact tracks inside.

Turn the motherboard over, disconnect the connector of the coaxial cable from the inside and remove the motherboard.

Pry carefully and remove the flashlight module.

Pry at the bottom and remove the vibration motor.

⚠️️ Be careful! The vibration motor is glued a bit with adhesive.
