Step 2. Remove the tray
First, we need to remove the SIM card tray.
To do this, we use a special tool, insert it into the hole, and push the SIM card tray out.
Step 3. Open the back cover
After that, we need to heat the surface of the back cover to approximately 70°C, or 160°F. For this, we use a heating mat, but you can also use a hair dryer.
After approximately 7–10 minutes, we can move on to separating or removing the back cover.
For this, we use a thin plastic film. We insert it into the gap between the back cover and the midframe and carefully run it along the edge, cutting through the adhesive.
Note that on this model, the camera cover is separate from the back cover.
We should not push the tool too far underneath the back cover, since we don’t know what is located underneath it.
Step 4. Remove the camera cover
And we need to remove the camera cover.
Let’s see how it is attached - with snaps or clips.
We carefully get underneath the edge, lift it slightly, release the clips, and remove the camera cover. We set it aside.
Step 5. Unscrew the screws
Now it’s better to cover the camera lenses. For this, we use a special film.
Note that we apply the film not directly to the lenses, but to the rim around them.
So, after covering the lenses, we move on to removing the screws.
To remove the screws, we use a 1.5 mm Phillips screwdriver, or Phillips #000.
It’s better to place the screws on a special surface in a specific order, since screws do not always fit properly during reassembly if they are put back into the wrong holes.
If the screws are difficult to remove, we can additionally use tweezers or a magnetizer.
Step 6. Unscrew the screws
And we move on to removing the screws in the lower section.
It’s better to keep these - separate from the previous ones.
We can also use tweezers to help remove the screws.
Step 7. Open the mid-frame
After that, we move on to separating the midframe. For this, we use a thin plastic film.
We insert it into the gap between the midframe and the display frame near the SIM card tray opening, release several clips, and then use a thicker tool.
As always, we need to be careful around the edges, since the cover is held quite firmly there.
As we can see, the midframe contains contact pads, antenna traces, and the vibration motor.
Step 8. Disconnect the battery connector
After that, we move on to disconnecting the battery connector. We use a non-metallic tool to disconnect it and then move on to the lower section.
ℹ️️ The OPPO Reno7 4G CPH2363 uses a BLP907 rechargeable battery with a capacity of 4500 mAh.
Step 9. Remove the loudspeaker
Now we need to remove the cover with the loudspeaker.
We carefully get underneath the edge, lift it, remove it, and set it aside.
Step 10. Disconnect the connectors
At the bottom, we disconnect the fingerprint sensor connector, the coaxial cable connector, the two inter-board flex cable connectors, and the display flex cable connector.
Step 11. Remove the sub-board
And we can carefully remove the sub-board.
We carefully lift it, remove it, and move the flex cables out of the way so they don’t interfere.
As we can see, the sub-board is slightly recessed into the display frame.
The sub-board contains the charging port, microphone, headset port, and other components on the reverse side.
Step 12. Remove the cameras
On the motherboard, we disconnect the front-facing camera. It’s better to peel off the heat-dissipating material and keep it for reassembly.
It’s also better to cover the camera lens so that no debris or dust gets on it.
After that, we disconnect the rear camera.
Note that the camera body may be glued either to the sub-board on the motherboard or to the display frame.
So, we carefully remove the large rear camera, whose body is glued to the display frame.
Step 13. Disconnect the connectors
And we disconnect the connectors: the inter-board flex cable connector, the display flex cable connector, and the coaxial cable connector.
We also free the cable itself from the clips holding it in place on the motherboard.
Step 14. Unscrew one screw
Now we need to remove the one screw that secures the motherboard. This screw is clearly different from the previous ones.
We carefully remove it with a Phillips screwdriver and set the screw aside.
Step 15. Remove the motherboard
Now we can remove the motherboard. We get underneath the edge, lift it, and remove it.
The motherboard may be held in place by thermal paste on the reverse side.
Step 16. Remove the battery
Finally, we move on to disconnecting the battery.
As is traditional with OPPO, we have a transparent film that needs to be moved aside and a green tab that we need to pull upward.
And we pull it upward, thereby disconnecting the battery.
Under the battery, there is an adhesive protective layer that protects the inter-board flex cables.
