Step 2. Remove the tray
First, as usual, we need to remove the SIM card tray.
For this, we use a SIM eject tool, push the tray out, and set it aside.
Step 3. Open the back cover
Next, we need to heat the surface of the back cover to approximately 70°C or 160°F.
We’re using a heating mat for this, but you can also use a heat gun or a hair dryer.
After about 10 minutes, we can move on to removing the back cover.
For this, we use a thin plastic film, insert it into the gap between the back cover and the midframe or display frame, and carefully slide it along the edge to cut through the adhesive.
As always, be careful around the side buttons, since there may be flex cables located there.
Also, be careful around the camera area so you don’t accidentally touch or damage the lenses.
Step 4. Unscrew the screws
Next, we move on to removing the screws in the top section. For this, we use a Phillips #000 screwdriver (1.5 mm).
We unscrew the screws and place them on a dedicated surface.
Keep in mind that the screws are difficult to remove and may not thread properly if put back in the wrong holes.
So, it’s best to organize them in a specific order to make reassembly easier.
Step 5. Open the cover
We proceed to remove the top cover. For this, we use a non-metallic tool to avoid shorting anything on the motherboard.
Carefully pry it up, gently rocking it, and check where it’s still held in place.
Then we remove the cover and set it aside. The flash module is mounted on this cover.
Also note that there’s a small additional cover with contact pads, most likely for the antenna.
Step 6. Disconnect the battery connector
Next, using a non-metal tool, we disconnect the battery connector.
âšī¸ī¸ The Realme 13+ model RMX5000 uses a BLPA57 rechargeable battery with a capacity of 5000 mAh.
Step 7. Unscrew the screws
Here, we also need to remove the screws. These screws are also difficult to extract.
It’s best to keep them separate from the previous ones and organized in order, so they go back into their original positions.
Of course, we use tweezers to remove them.
Step 8. Remove the loudspeaker
After that, we proceed to remove the bottom cover.
This cover usually includes the loudspeaker.
It’s not as easy to remove as on newer Samsung models, but we still need to find a point where we can carefully pry it up, gently rocking it to detach it.
Step 9. Disconnect the connectors
After that, we disconnect the connectors.
We disconnect the interconnect flex cable, the coaxial cable connector, the second interconnect flex cable, and the fingerprint sensor connector.
Step 10. Remove the sub-board
Now we can remove the sub-board.
We find the right spot to pry it up and release it from the clips. Carefully lift it and flip it over.
As we can see, the sub-board is slightly recessed.
Step 11. Disconnect the connector
On the back side, there’s a second coaxial cable connected. We disconnect the connector and free the cable itself.
On the sub-board, we have: the charging port, microphone, and the card connector on the reverse side.
Step 12. Disconnect the connectors
After that, we can disconnect the connectors: two coaxial cable connectors, and free the cables from the retaining clips on the motherboard.
We disconnect the interconnect flex cable and the display flex cable.
Step 13. Remove the cameras
Next, we disconnect the cameras on the motherboard.
We disconnect the rear cameras and carefully peel them off if they’re glued in place.
Cameras are often glued by their base either to the display frame or to the shields on the motherboard.
Carefully preserve the adhesive or protective layer - it will be useful during reassembly. We also need to disconnect the front camera.
We remove it and peel off the heat-dissipating film. It’s best to keep this as well.
It’s also recommended to cover the camera lens so dust or debris doesn’t get on it.
Step 14. Unscrew one screw
And now we need to remove one screw that secures the motherboard.
This screw is clearly different from the others, so it’s very important not to mix it up during reassembly. Set it aside.
Step 15. Remove the motherboard
Now nothing is preventing us from removing the motherboard.
Carefully pry it up, again finding the right point where it can be lifted easily and removed.
On the back side, the motherboard may be held in place by thermal paste.
On the motherboard, we have the headset port, while the earpiece speaker remains in the display frame.
Step 16. Remove the battery
Finally, we move on to removing the battery.
There’s a wide transparent protective layer that needs to be folded back, and a black pull tab in the center that we need to gently pull upward.
So, we fold back the transparent layer and pull the black tab, removing the battery.
Under the battery, there is an adhesive protective layer that covers the interconnect flex cables.
Step 17. In the display frame remained
âšī¸ī¸ In the display frame remained: the earpiece speaker, fingerprint sensor, and vibration motor.
