Step 2. Remove the tray
At the very beginning we need to remove the card tray. For this we take a special tool, insert it into the hole and push out the card tray.
â ī¸ī¸ If the tray does not come out well, we can additionally use tweezers.
Step 3. Open the back cover
We need to heat the surface of the back cover to a temperature of about 70° C or 160° F. For this, we use a heating mat you can use a hair dryer.
And after 5 to 7 minutes we can move on to detach the back cover.
To detach the back cover, we will use a plastic film, whether it is a protective film from a new display or a film from a stationery store.
We insert it into the gap between the middle cover and the back cover and run it along the edge.
We have only the gasket on the back cover.
Step 4. Open the cover
We need to detach the small cover using a non-metal tool. Gently hook the edge and lift it off. Under the cover is the fingerprint sensor connector.
â ī¸ī¸ There is an arrow on the middle cover that indicates the correct place to pry to remove the cover.
Step 5. Disconnect the connector
We disconnect the fingerprint sensor cable connector. The sensor itself is located on the side on the middle cover.
Step 6. Unscrew the screws
We move on to removing the eight screws at the top, we use a 1.5mm Phillips screwdriver or #000.
The screws may not come out well so we can additionally use a magnetizer. If the screws get stuck in the cover, we use tweezers.
Step 7. Unscrew the screws
We unscrew the screws on the bottom. The screwdriver is the same 1.5 mm Phillips.
Please note that on the bottom part there are antenna transmission lines, which can be easily damaged when detaching the back cover or unscrewing the screws.
Step 8. Open the middle cover
Next, we have to detach the middle cover. We use a thin plastic film, slip it into the gap between the middle cover and the display frame and detach a few clips. After that, we can use a thicker tool.
We always have to be careful around the side buttons and the fingerprint sensor as they are physically located there. And we also have to be careful on the corners as the cover is held especially tight on the corners.
The loudspeaker, fingerprint sensor and antenna contact pads are located on the middle cover.
Step 9. Disconnect the battery connector
Disconnect the battery connector as soon as you can. Use a non-metallic or plastic tool to avoid any damage.
âšī¸ī¸ The Samsung Galaxy M53 SM-M536 model has a battery EB-BM526ABS with a capacity of 5000 mAh (also known as a rechargeable battery).
Step 10. Remove the inter-board cable
After that, we can disconnect the connectors on the sub-board and motherboard and remove the inter-board cable.
âšī¸ī¸ An arrow on the FFC cable (flexible flat cable) indicates its correct position.
Step 11. Remove the coaxial cable
We disconnect the connectors on both boards and remove the two coaxial cables.
Step 13. Unscrew one screw
And we need to unscrew one screw securing the sub-board. The screwdriver is the same 1.5mm Phillips. This screw is obviously different from the previous ones.
Step 14. Remove the daughterboard
We can detach the sub-board, carefully hook it in the right place, lift it up and remove the sub-board.
On the sub-board we have the microphone, charging port and other elements on the inside.
Step 15. Remove the cameras
We move on to the motherboard, where we detach the two rear cameras.
And we also remove the front camera.
Step 16. Unscrew one screw
We unscrew one screw securing the motherboard with a 2.0mm Phillips screwdriver.
Step 17. Remove the motherboard
Carefully remove the printed circuit board. There is no need to use a lever or try to reach the circuit board by force. Make sure that nothing is getting in the way or holding the circuit board.
The motherboard, also, may be attached with attachments like latches or hooks, be careful.
â ī¸ī¸ Do not bend the circuit board when removing it or push tools under it. Unbeknownst to yourself, you can damage components or cables from the inside.
Step 18. Remove the cameras
Now we need to detach the rear cameras. Hold the cameras slightly so they don't fall out, disconnect the connectors and put the cameras aside.
Step 19. Remove the battery
Finally, we move on to detach the battery.
In our case the battery is firmly taped, we do not use isopropyl alcohol or heat to detach the battery. This is safer, but it takes longer to detach, in our case it took about eight minutes.
So, we insert the plastic film into the gap between the display frame and the battery and run the back and forth cutting the adhesive base. As soon as a sufficient gap is formed, we can insert a plastic card there to hold the gap and continue working with the film.
And we continue to work the plastic film from different sides thus detaching the battery. We have to be really careful not to damage any of the cables.
When the gap becomes bigger, we can use a thicker tool to keep the gap and make it easier for us to separate the battery. Carefully go deeper and deeper with the tool to detach the battery.
This is a time-consuming process that takes a lot of time and requires patience.
At any stage of detaching the battery, it is better not to use a metal tool to avoid damaging the battery shell.
Step 20. In the display frame remained
âšī¸ī¸ In the display frame remained: the earpiece speaker, vibration motor, and side buttons.
