Step 2. Remove the tray
Use the ejection tool (aka Needle) or Paperclip. Push the tip all the way into the hole until the tray ejects, and then pull the tray of SIM card out.
â ī¸ī¸ Pay attention! The tool must be inserted into a hole on the edge of the phone's housing. Do not press too hard. It may break the tray eject mechanism.
Step 3. Open the back cover
We recommend using a special heating device such as a separator machine, heat gun, or heating mat. It will simplify the process. You can use a home hairdryer, but you will have to make a nozzle by hand or have a suitable one in the kit to gently heat and concentrate the heat flow in the right place.
âšī¸ī¸ The surface of the back cover must be heated to soften the adhesive underneath. The approximate heating temperature is 50° C / 125° F.
Use a thin plastic film or pick for separation. To facilitate the process, you can use isopropyl alcohol. It is often the most difficult to pass the tool between the parts to be divided. Choose the far edge from the FFC cables or buttons.
Do not use a lever or any force for separation that could damage the elements inside.
Step 5. Open the cover
Pry over the edges. Move an opening tool along the edge detach the clips and remove the cover with antenna pads and tracks.
âšī¸ī¸ Try to lift the cover by the edges and not push anything between them to not accidentally touch or short-circuit anything on the circuit board.
Step 6. Disconnect the battery connector
Disconnect the battery connector as soon as possible. It is better to use a non-metal or plastic tool to avoid any damage.
âšī¸ī¸ The Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite model has a battery BM4R with 4060 mAh capacity (aka rechargeable battery).
â ī¸ī¸ It is highly recommended to disconnect the connector to avoid possible short circuits during disassembly.
Step 8. Remove the loudspeaker
Pry over the edge and remove the loudspeaker assembly with antenna tracks.
Step 9. Remove the inter-board cable
Carefully, preferably from the edge, disconnect the connectors and remove the inter-board cable connecting the mainboard to the daughterboard (also known as the sub-board).
â ī¸ī¸ Be careful when removing the cables from the connectors, the cables are pretty thin, and it is easy enough to break them or damage the contact tracks inside.
âšī¸ī¸ An arrow on the FFC cable (flexible flat cable) indicates its correct position.
Step 11. Disconnect the connectors
Pry up the connectors of the display module cable, sensor cable, and three coaxial cables.
â ī¸ī¸ Be careful when removing the cables from the connectors, the cables are pretty thin, and it is easy enough to break them or damage the contact tracks inside.
Step 12. Remove the bracket
Pry over the edge and remove the bracket holding the two connectors of rear cameras.
Step 13. Remove the cameras
Disconnect the connectors. Pry over the edge and remove the rear cameras inside the housing.
Step 15. Remove the motherboard
Carefully remove the printed circuit board. There is no need to use a lever or try to reach the circuit board by force. Make sure that nothing is getting in the way or holding the circuit board.
The motherboard, also, may be attached with attachments like latches or hooks, be careful.
â ī¸ī¸ Do not bend the circuit board when removing it or push tools under it. Unbeknownst to yourself, you can damage components or cables from the inside.
Step 16. Remove the battery
With extreme care, remove the battery because it is glued from the inside by the manufacturer.
The brown tag has instructions written on it.
Also, we need to remember or look in advance at the location of the flat cables under the battery, so as not to damage them.
Step 17. Disconnect the connectors
Disconnect the coaxial cable connector, fingerprint sensor cable connector.
â ī¸ī¸ Do not pull on the cable or pry it with a sharp tool, the connectors are pretty weak and break easily, or the cable falls out of the end (lug).
Step 18. Remove the daughterboard
Remove the sub-board. It may be glued to the frame or attached with attachments like latches or hooks, so be careful.
âšī¸ī¸ The sub-board contains a charging port (Micro-USB), microphone, spring contacts for the speaker, vibration motor, and an antenna unit.
â ī¸ī¸ It is not necessary to insert the tool underneath when removing the sub-board. Internal components could be damaged.
Step 19. Remove the small board
Disconnect the two coaxial cable connectors. Pry over the edge and unstick the small board.
Step 20. In the display frame remained
âšī¸ī¸ In the display frame remained: the earpiece speaker, vibration motor, fingerprint sensor, and three coaxial cables.
