Step 2. Remove the tray
First, we need to remove the SIM card tray.
To do that, we use a SIM eject tool, insert it into the hole, pop the tray out, and set it aside.
Step 3. Open the back cover
Next, we need to heat the surface of the back cover to approximately 70°C or 160°F. For this, we’re using a heating mat, but you can also use a heat gun or hair dryer.
After about 10 minutes, we can move on to separating or removing the back cover.
To remove the back cover, we use a thin plastic film.
We insert it into the gap between the back cover and the midframe, then carefully slide it along the edge, cutting through the adhesive layer.
As always, you need to be especially careful around the camera area because the cover is additionally glued there. And of course, you need to be very careful not to accidentally touch or damage the camera lenses.
Step 4. Unscrew the screws
Then move on to removing the screws.
For this, we use a 1.5 mm Phillips screwdriver or a Phillips #000.
It looks like all the screws are identical in both the upper and lower sections, but it’s still better to place them on a magnetic mat or organized surface in a specific order because screws don’t always thread properly when installed into the wrong holes.
Step 6. Open the mid-frame
After removing the screws, we move on to detaching the midframe cover.
First, we use a thin plastic film, inserting it into the gap between the midframe cover and the display frame near the SIM tray opening. Slide it along the edge, release several clips, and after that we can switch to a thicker pry tool.
You need to be very careful around the edges because the cover is held very tightly there.
You also need to be careful around the edge of the display so you don’t accidentally damage it, since it’s very fragile.
There is also a fingerprint sensor flex cable running from the midframe cover to the motherboard, so be careful!
Step 7. Disconnect the battery connector
After that, using a non-metal tool, disconnect the battery connector.
ℹ️️ The Xiaomi Redmi 15 4G model 25062RN2DY uses a BN70 rechargeable battery with a capacity of 7000 mAh.
Step 8. Disconnect the connector
We carefully lift the cover to avoid damaging the cable, flip it over with a non-metal tool, disconnect the connector, and remove the midframe cover with the contact pads, antenna traces, and fingerprint sensor.
Step 9. Remove the loudspeaker
In the lower section, we need to remove the loudspeaker cover. For this, we use tweezers.
Carefully pry it up at the correct point, lift it, remove the cover, and set it aside.
Step 10. Disconnect the connectors
After that, disconnect the interconnect flex cable connector and disconnect the coaxial cable connector.
We also need to peel back the heat-dissipating film covering the vibration motor.
Step 11. Remove the sub-board
Now we can remove the sub-board.
The sub-board is held in place by a clip on one side. You also need to find the correct spot where you can pry it up and disconnect it.
The sub-board sits slightly recessed. Carefully remove it.
The sub-board contains the charging port, microphone, and other components on the opposite side.
Step 12. Remove the cameras
On the motherboard, we can disconnect the cameras.
Remove the cameras, disconnect the front camera, and carefully peel back the heat-dissipating film since we’ll need it again during reassembly.
Step 13. Disconnect the connectors
Disconnect the display flex cable connector, disconnect the interconnect flex cable connector, disconnect the coaxial cable, and make sure there are no screws securing the motherboard.
Step 14. Remove the motherboard
Now we can carefully remove the motherboard. Gently pry it up, lift it, and remove it.
On the opposite side, the motherboard may still be lightly held in place by thermal paste.
Step 15. Remove the battery
Finally, we move on to removing the battery.
Traditionally for Redmi devices, there are brown pull tabs on both sides. On some models, there are tabs on both sides.
So, we need to fold the tabs outward and read the instructions. The tabs are labeled A and B.
After reading the instructions, it becomes clear that we need to fold the middle tabs labeled B outward as far as possible. The wider tabs labeled A should then be carefully pulled upward.
So, we pull upward on the tab labeled A, which releases the battery. We do the same on the second side and remove the battery.
Under the battery there is a transparent protective layer that protects the interconnect flex cables.
