Step 1. Open the back cover

Using a spudger or a plastic pick, carefully, around the edge, detach the back cover clips, and remove it.

Step 2. Remove the battery

There is an indentation at the end of the battery on the middle cover. Hook the battery at this point, lift it up and remove the battery.

Step 3. Unscrew the screws

Using a screwdriver (Phillips 1.5 mm PH000), unscrew the nine screws.

Step 4. Open the middle cover

Pry over the edges. Move an opening tool along the edge detach the clips and remove the middle cover with a loudspeaker and antenna pads and tracks. The middle cover protects the printed circuit board (PCB).

Try to lift the cover by the edges and don't push anything too far inside, so as not to accidentally break or short-circuit anything on the circuit board.

Step 6. Remove the rear camera

Disconnect the connector on the motherboard, and remove the rear camera.

Step 7. Remove the coaxial cable

Pry up the connectors and remove the coaxial cable.

Step 8. Unscrew the screws

Using a screwdriver (Phillips 1.5 mm PH000), unscrew the two screws securing the motherboard.

Step 9. Disconnect the connectors

Pry up the connector of the side buttons cable, display module cable, inter-board cable.

Also, we pry up the side buttons cable.

⚠ī¸ī¸ Be careful when removing the cables from the connectors, the cables are pretty thin, and it is easy enough to break them or damage the contact tracks inside.

Step 10. Remove the motherboard

Carefully remove the printed circuit board. There is no need to use a lever or try to reach the circuit board by force. Make sure that nothing is getting in the way or holding the circuit board.

The motherboard, also, may be attached with attachments like latches or hooks, be careful.

⚠ī¸ī¸ Do not bend the circuit board when removing it or push tools under it. Unbeknownst to yourself, you can damage components or cables from the inside.

Step 11. Remove the daughterboard

Peel back the protective layer. Unstick the cables and remove the sub-board.

ℹī¸ī¸ The sub-board contains a microphone, vibration motor, spring contacts for the speaker, and an antenna unit.

Step 12. Remove the earpiece speaker
