Thanks for this video. Our tablet z stopped charging, we had the charging port replaced, it worked for a while and failed again. We sent it in to Sony (past warranty), they said the main board was faulty and wouldn't repair it. And it doesn't recognize the microsd and the microphone doesn't work. Wonderful device. Does this sound to you like a faulty main board, is there any hope for this thing?

    Hello, when we speak about a faulty mb we can't give an advice not seeing this part, because it consist from many different parts. Do you have any written explanations from Sony? It can help to understand the reason of refusing in the repair.

      Unfortunately, the most detailed information I got was the first email: "Our technicians thoroughly examined the device and found that the main board is overconsuming power and charging issues are intermittent. Because the device is out of warranty and the cost of the repair exceeds the value of the device the phone was deemed beyond economical repair. If you would like to dispute the technician’s findings, please contact Sony at 1-866-737-7733 to see if there is anything that they can do for you in terms of having your device repaired." First of all, it's not even a phone, it's a tablet, I have my doubts they even took it apart. I talked to Sony and they couldn't "do anything" for me because the device was past warranty. When I tried to get more info about the diagnosis, Sony referred me to the repair facility and the repair facility in turn referred me back to Sony. When I asked for a quote on the repair regardless of cost, the repair facility informed me they were "not allowed" to proceed with the repair. So yeah, I understand it's not much to go on. Thanks again.

        You can try to use Micro USB to Magnetic Charger Dock Cable Adapter or the dock station - if your device will be charged after then it can be a bad-quality repair of the micro usb port. About 'the main board is overconsuming power' we have a doubt but you can observe it after full charging (the tablet will be discharged as fast as it can)

              The charging dock arrived and boom, the thing came to life and charged up to full capacity quickly. Ufortunately, the touch (digitizer?) is not working. Taking it all into account: 1. the local dealer was stumped that his usb and storage port fixes only worked temporarily, then quit 2. the digitizer has since quit 3. the sony guys blamed the man board it does sound like indeed a main board problem? I can get a main board but it's over $100 in Canadian rubles, so it'd be an expensive wrong guess. Any thoughts? Thanks again.

                Hello, almost all cases it can be solved replacing mother board but if the touch not working that reason can be in - or not connected flex cable of the touch or maybe the touch or flex is damaged or MB must to rest in peace. The best to find out what exactly not working and in the first you have to check (out) connector of the touch screen in the second check/replace MB just for find out reason of fault don't need buy MB on this stage. In the end of it you can make first conclusions what don't working MB or Touch (touch can be replaced with display only)

                  I really don't think it's the touch only just because the microsd and usb charging ports are also bad and they all went bad at close to the same time. Without one of those 2 ports, I can't even flash an OS. I may just order the mb and see if that fixes everything, otherwise I'll send it back and throw away the tablet once and for all. Like you said, I'll check inside first though. If I can get it going, I'll report back, much appreciated.
