@azis W They stopped making the official battery two years after releasing the Z3 Compact tablet, it was found to be faulty. A replacement battery was available for a while, but even that has disappeared from ebay and other sites.

@monkeyfacesenior Separate the screen from the casing and the battery is pretty much ready to remove, just unplug to ribbon cables and carefully coax the battery out using a credit/loyalty card. slow and easy, so as not to damage the battery.

@azis W Gad you could, I'm in the UK? It's not so easy to obtain the old Z3 compact tablet batteries, unless online, and most are crap or counterfeit and don't even fit!

I notice the transparent plastic thing used to pry the screen is especially soft. Is that strong enough to remove the glue?
Answer 😉 186 0
Hi, it's a plastic protective layer of the new display. It's strong enough to separate, at the same time, soft and can't the cause of damage.
Question 🤔 193 0
Can the battery be removed without taking all the other components out?
Answer 😉 184 0
Hi, first, you should separate the display, and you can try. Why try? Sometimes the battery is glued hard and you need to remove the PCB. Getting more space giving you more opportunities and you can make the separation without PCB damage.
Question 🤔 194 0
Is the glue still able to hold the display after I removed it for battery replacement? Or do I need to renew the glue?
Answer 😉 186 0
Hi, it is better to do that, use a sealant (we use B5000 or B7000).

For a battery adhesive tape, for display or back cover a sealant.

@VRM24.com Thanks for the quick and detailed response. I presume any household double-sided adhesive tape will do?

@Avrunath Yeah, I guess, but I would recommend you a brand - 3M (3m.com).
