Another Samsung A12 came in for repair with the typical issue - no backlight.
Honestly, this model is the most problematic phone of the last five years - we've never seen so many failures on any other model 😤
The repair is basically the same as in our previous post, but the capacitors that burn out the backlight are located in a different place.
1️⃣ We cut out a piece of the metal frame to the left of the processor to access the necessary components.
2️⃣ Visually, we can see the coil and nearby components have blackened edges from heat damage.
3️⃣ We replace the coil and always replace the two capacitors located to the right!
4️⃣ We remove the damaged components - while we're at it, it's better to replace the diode too since it looked slightly swollen.
5️⃣ We install working components from a donor board in their place.
6️⃣ We test the board by temporarily installing it in the case.
Everything works! We check the backlight at maximum screen brightness - if the image doesn't flicker and the display stays bright, we can reassemble the phone! 🙃
