Step 2. Remove the tray
Open the hatch hiding the tray of the SIM and Memory cards (Micro SD), and remove it.
Step 3. Open the display module
â ī¸ Pay attention! Disassembly has a maximum 3rd difficulty because the process begins with the disassembly of the display module. If you have no experience or are not sure of your skills, we strongly recommend that you contact a specialized service center.
We recommend using a special heating device such as a separator machine, heat gun, or heating mat. It will simplify the process. You can use a home hairdryer, but you will have to make a nozzle by hand or have a suitable one in the kit to gently heat and concentrate the heat flow in the right place.
âšī¸ī¸ The surface of the display module must be heated to soften the adhesive underneath. The approximate heating temperature is 50° C / 125° F.
Use a thin plastic film or pick for separation. To facilitate the process, you can use isopropyl alcohol. It is often most difficult to pass the tool between the parts to be divided. Choose the far edge from the FFC cables or buttons.
Do not use a lever or any force for separation that could damage the elements inside.
The process can be seen in our video entirely so as well as in detail, at the end of the instructions.
â ī¸ It is important not to get a film between the touchscreen/glass and the display module, this will damage the module.
â ī¸ Look in advance at the picture of the places where the touchscreen and display cables pass under the display module to avoid accidental damage.
Step 4. Unscrew the screws
Using a screwdriver (Phillips 1.5 mm PH000), unscrew two screws and remove the brackets holding the connectors.
Step 5. Disconnect the battery connector
Disconnect the battery connector as soon as possible.
âšī¸ī¸ The Sony Xperia 10 Plus model has a battery 12390586-00 with 3000 mAh capacity (aka rechargeable battery).
â ī¸ It is highly recommended to disconnect the connector to avoid possible short circuits during disassembly.
Also, try not to use a metal tool to disconnect the rechargeable battery connector or do it carefully.
Step 8. Unscrew the screws
Using a screwdriver (Torx T5), unscrew the four screws.
âšī¸ī¸ Be sure to note the location of the screws before disassembling. When assembling the device, screwing the screw in the wrong place may damage the device or its parts. To avoid damage, the removed screws and individual pieces (as gaskets or brackets) must be laid out in the appropriate order, or the screws and their holes in the phone must be marked with colored markers.
Step 9. Open the middle cover
Pry over the edges. Move an opening tool along the edge detach the clips and remove the middle cover with an earpiece speaker. The middle cover protects the printed circuit board (PCB).
Try to lift the cover by the edges and don't push anything too far inside, so as not to accidentally break or short-circuit anything on the circuit board.
Step 11. Remove the battery
With extreme care, remove the battery because it is glued from the inside by the manufacturer.
Step 12. Disconnect the connectors
Disconnect two coaxial cable connectors, inter-board sub-screen cable on the daughterboard.
â ī¸ Do not pull on the cable or pry it with a sharp tool, the connectors are pretty weak and break easily, or the cable falls out of the end (lug).
Step 13. Remove the daughterboard
Remove the sub-board. It is glued to the frame with metalized tape, so to facilitate the process, the board can be heated a bit.
âšī¸ī¸ The board contains a microphone, spring contacts for the speaker, and an antenna unit.
â ī¸ It is not necessary to insert the tool under the board when removing the sub-board. Internal components could be damaged.
Step 14. Remove the frame of cameras
Disconnect the connectors and remove two rear cameras and one front (selfie) camera.
Step 15. Disconnect the connectors
Pry up the connectors of power volume buttons cable, inter-board cable, headphone jack socket, and coaxial cables.
â ī¸ Be careful when removing the cables from the connectors, the cables are pretty thin, and it is easy enough to break them or damage the contact tracks inside.
Step 16. Remove the motherboard
Carefully remove the printed circuit board. There is no need to use a lever or try to reach the board by force. Make sure that nothing is getting in the way or holding the board.
â ī¸ Do not bend the circuit board when removing it or push tools under it. Unbeknownst to yourself, you can damage components or cables from the inside.
Step 17. In the housing remained
âšī¸ī¸ In the housing remained: headphone jack socket, loudspeaker, power and volume buttons cable, coaxial cables, vibration motor, charging port.
