Disassembly/Repair of the mobile device Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact with each step description and the required set of tools.

⚠️️ Pay attention! Disassembly has a maximum 3rd difficulty because the process begins with the disassembly of the display module. If you have no experience or are not sure of your skills, we strongly recommend that you contact a specialized service center.

It will simplify the process. You can use a home hairdryer, but you will have to make a nozzle by hand or have a suitable one in the kit to gently heat and concentrate the heat flow in the right place.

ℹ️️ The surface of the display module must be heated to soften the adhesive underneath. The approximate heating temperature is 50° C / 125° F.

Use a thin plastic film or pick for separation. To facilitate the process, you can use isopropyl alcohol. It is often the most difficult to pass the tool between the parts to be divided. Choose the far edge from the FFC cables or buttons.

Do not use a lever or any force for separation that could damage the elements inside.

Disconnect the battery connector as soon as possible. It is better to use a non-metal or plastic tool to avoid any damage.

ℹ️️ The Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact model has a battery LIS1569ERPC with 4500 mAh capacity (aka rechargeable battery).

Hook and detach the bracket holding the connectors.

Disconnect the display module connector and remove the display.

Disconnect the connectors on the motherboard and detach the coaxial cable.

⚠️️ The coaxial cable is attached in two places on the motherboard, so we have to detach the fasteners too.

Using a screwdriver Phillips 1.5 mm (PH#000), unscrew the two screws.

Pry over the edge and remove the cover with transmission lines for antenna.

Disconnect the connector on the motherboard and remove the main camera.

Now we need two screwdrivers Phillips 1.5 mm (PH#000) and hex T4 to unscrew the two screws.

Disconnect the connector, pry at the bottom and remove the vibration motor.

⚠️️ Be careful! The vibration motor is glued a bit with adhesive.

Disconnect the connector and carefully detach the cable with small circuit boards, microphone, and frame.

Disconnect the connector on the motherboard and remove the front (selfie) camera.

Using a Philips 1.5 mm screwdriver (PH#000), unscrew one screw.

Pry over the edge and remove the cover with transmission lines for antenna.

Disconnect coaxial cable connectors. After, pry over the edges detaching the small circuit board.

Using a Philips 1.5 mm screwdriver (PH#000), unscrew the three screws. Also, we have to remove the bracket and cover with antenna transmission lines.

Using a Philips 1.5 mm screwdriver (PH#000), unscrew the three screws and remove the brackets.

Pry up the connectors of the side buttons, loudspeaker cable.

Carefully remove the printed circuit board. There is no need to use a lever or try to reach the circuit board by force. Make sure that nothing is getting in the way or holding the circuit board.

The motherboard, also, may be attached with attachments like latches or hooks, be careful.

⚠️️ Do not bend the circuit board when removing it or push tools under it. Unbeknownst to yourself, you can damage components or cables from the inside.
