Step 2. Remove the tray
Use the ejection tool (aka Needle) or Paperclip. Push the tip all the way into the hole until the tray ejects, and then pull the tray for SIM cards out.
â ī¸ī¸ Pay attention! The tool must be inserted into a hole on the edge of the phone's housing. Do not press too hard. It may break the tray eject mechanism.
Step 3. Open the back cover
We recommend using a special heating device such as a separator machine, heat gun, or heating mat. It will simplify the process. You can use a home hairdryer, but you will have to make a nozzle by hand or have a suitable one in the kit to gently heat and concentrate the heat flow in the right place.
âšī¸ī¸ The surface of the back cover must be heated to soften the adhesive underneath. The approximate heating temperature is 50° C / 125° F.
Use a thin plastic film or pick for separation. To facilitate the process, you can use isopropyl alcohol. It is often the most difficult to pass the tool between the parts to be divided. Choose the far edge from the FFC cables or buttons.
Do not use a lever or any force for separation that could damage the elements inside.
Step 4. Remove the frame of cameras
We must detach the cameras frame, it is glued, and under the frame we have more screws to unscrew in order to detach the middle cover, which hides the motherboard. We can also use plastic film or a thin, non-metal tool to do this.
Step 6. Unscrew one screw
Using a screwdriver Phillips 1.5 mm (PH#000), unscrew one non-magnetic screw.
If the screws are different: âšī¸ī¸ Be sure to note the location of the screws before disassembling. When assembling the device, screwing the screw in the wrong place may damage the device or its parts. To avoid damage, the removed screws and individual pieces (as gaskets or brackets) must be laid out in the appropriate order, or the screws and their holes in the phone must be marked with colored markers.
Step 7. Open the cover
Pry over the edges. Move an opening tool along the edge detach the clips and remove the cover.
âšī¸ī¸ Try to lift the cover by the edges and not push anything between them to not accidentally touch or short-circuit anything on the circuit board.
â ī¸ī¸ It is crucial while reassembling, checking the spring contacts on the board, and the contact pads on the cover match and touch. Otherwise, the signal loss or signal may be quite weak.
Step 8. Disconnect the battery connector
Disconnect the battery connector as soon as possible. It is better to use a non-metal or plastic tool to avoid any damage.
âšī¸ī¸ The HONOR X8 TFY-LX1 model has a battery HB416492EFW with 4000 mAh capacity (aka rechargeable battery).
Step 11. Disconnect the connectors
Disconnect the two connectors of the two coaxial cables, inter-board cable connector.
â ī¸ī¸ Do not pull on the cable or pry it with a sharp tool, the connectors are pretty weak and break easily, or the cable falls out of the end (lug).
Step 12. Unscrew one screw
Using a Philips 1.5 mm screwdriver (PH#000), unscrew one screw securing the sub-board.
Step 13. Remove the daughterboard
Remove the sub-board. It may be glued to the frame or attached with attachments like latches or hooks, so be careful.
âšī¸ī¸ The sub-board contains a charging port (Micro-USB), microphone, headphone jack socket, spring contacts for the speaker, vibration motor, and an antenna unit.
â ī¸ī¸ It is not necessary to insert the tool underneath when removing the sub-board. Internal components could be damaged.
Step 14. Disconnect the connectors
Okay, now we can disconnect the connectors of the two coaxial cables, we disconnect the inter-board cable connector, the display connector and the fingerprint sensor connector.
Step 15. Remove the cameras
And we move on to detaching the cameras. We start with the front camera. We pick it up and gently take it out. Then we can detach the three rear cameras.
And one of the cameras is on the outside, but the connector is on the inside. So, we detach that camera after we remove the circuit board.
Step 16. Unscrew one screw
Using a Philips 1.5 mm screwdriver (PH#000), unscrew one screw securing the motherboard.
Step 17. Remove the motherboard
Carefully remove the printed circuit board. There is no need to use a lever or try to reach the circuit board by force. Make sure that nothing is getting in the way or holding the circuit board.
The motherboard, also, may be attached with attachments like latches or hooks, be careful.
â ī¸ī¸ Do not bend the circuit board when removing it or push tools under it. Unbeknownst to yourself, you can damage components or cables from the inside.
Step 18. Remove the rear camera
Finally, we took the motherboard out and turned it over. And we need to disconnect the connector and remove the remaining camera.
Step 19. Remove the battery
All we have to do now is detach the battery and we have to unwrap the three tabs numbered one, two, three and according to the description we have to pull the brown tab number three upwards. The battery is firmly glued to the inner transparent layer that protects the cables under the battery.
Hold the display frame on both sides with one hand and pull the tab up with the other. Do not pull excessively and continuously, it may transfer unnecessary force to the display frame, which may cause damage. The battery, by the way, is glued to the back side of the inner transparent layer.
Step 20. In the display frame remained
âšī¸ī¸ In the display frame remained: the earpiece speaker, coaxial cables, inter-board cable, fingerprint sensor, and vibration motor.
