Step 2. Remove the tray
Use the ejection tool (aka Needle) or Paperclip. Push the tip all the way into the hole until the tray ejects, and then pull the tray of SIM cards out.
â ī¸ī¸ Pay attention! The tool must be inserted into a hole on the edge of the phone's housing. Do not press too hard. It may break the tray eject mechanism.
Step 3. Open the back cover
We recommend using a special heating device such as a separator machine, heat gun, or heating mat. It will simplify the process. You can use a home hairdryer, but you will have to make a nozzle by hand or have a suitable one in the kit to gently heat and concentrate the heat flow in the right place.
âšī¸ī¸ The surface of the back cover must be heated to soften the adhesive underneath. The approximate heating temperature is 50° C / 125° F.
Use a thin plastic film or pick for separation. To facilitate the process, you can use isopropyl alcohol. It is often the most difficult to pass the tool between the parts to be divided. Choose the far edge from the FFC cables or buttons.
Do not use a lever or any force for separation that could damage the elements inside.
Step 4. Unscrew one screw
Using a screwdriver Phillips 1.5 mm (PH#000), unscrew one small silver screw.
If the screws are different: âšī¸ī¸ Be sure to note the location of the screws before disassembling. When assembling the device, screwing the screw in the wrong place may damage the device or its parts. To avoid damage, the removed screws and individual pieces (as gaskets or brackets) must be laid out in the appropriate order, or the screws and their holes in the phone must be marked with colored markers.
Step 5. Unscrew the screws
Using a screwdriver Phillips 1.5 mm (PH#000), unscrew the ten long black screws.
Step 6. Open the cover
Pry over the edges. Move an opening tool along the edge detach the clips and remove the cover with transmission lines and pads for antenna.
Step 7. Disconnect the battery connector
Disconnect the battery connector as soon as possible. It is better to use a non-metal or plastic tool to avoid any damage.
âšī¸ī¸ The Xiaomi Poco F2 Pro model has a battery BM4Q with 4700 mAh capacity (aka rechargeable battery).
Step 10. Remove the loudspeaker
Pry over the edge and remove the loudspeaker assembly with antenna tracks (transmission lines).
Step 11. Remove the inter-board cable
Carefully, preferably from the edge, disconnect the connectors and remove the inter-board cable connecting the mainboard to the daughterboard (also known as the sub-board).
â ī¸ī¸ Be careful when removing the cables from the connectors, the cables are pretty thin, and it is easy enough to break them or damage the contact tracks inside.
âšī¸ī¸ An arrow on the FFC cable (flexible flat cable) indicates its correct position.
Step 12. Disconnect the connectors
Pry up the connectors of the display module cable, front camera cable, and three coaxial cables.
â ī¸ī¸ Be careful when removing the cables from the connectors, the cables are pretty thin, and it is easy enough to break them or damage the contact tracks inside.
Step 13. Unscrew the screws
We need to unscrew the two screws that fix the motherboard.
The first one we need to unscrew with a Phillips 1.5 mm #000 screwdriver but the second one we have to unscrew with a Philips 2.5 mm screwdriver for the hollow screws. But you can use a flathead screwdriver like in our video.
Step 14. Remove the motherboard
Carefully remove the printed circuit board. There is no need to use a lever or try to reach the circuit board by force. Make sure that nothing is getting in the way or holding the circuit board.
The motherboard, also, may be attached with attachments like latches or hooks, be careful.
â ī¸ī¸ Do not bend the circuit board when removing it or push tools under it. Unbeknownst to yourself, you can damage components or cables from the inside.
Step 15. Remove the cameras
We move on to detach the rear cameras.
The connectors of the cameras are well fixed with the brackets, which have unusual fasteners, unusual because their brackets hold the camera assembly very tightly. We carefully disconnect all the connectors.
And then we detach the camera assembly except for the one that's glued to the motherboard.
Step 16. Disconnect the connectors
Disconnect the two connectors of two coaxial cables , fingerprint sensor cable connector.
Step 17. Remove the daughterboard
Remove the sub-board. It may be glued to the frame or attached with attachments like latches or hooks, so be careful.
âšī¸ī¸ The sub-board contains a charging port (Micro-USB), microphone, sim cards holder spring contacts for the speaker, vibration motor, and an antenna unit.
â ī¸ī¸ It is not necessary to insert the tool underneath when removing the sub-board. Internal components could be damaged.
Step 18. Remove the battery
And then we move on to detach the battery. We need to unwrap the two brown tabs and read which one we need to pull. From the description we know that we have to keep the middle one and pull the long one, which is on the edges and is connected by an isthmus in the middle.
We also need to peel off the transparent covering, on the other side, because it will also hold the battery.
So, with one hand we hold the display frame and with the other hand we pull on the brown tab. Btw the transparent film is glued to the battery and it also protects the display cable.
Step 19. In the display frame remained
âšī¸ī¸ In the display frame remained: the earpiece speaker, front camera mechanism, and vibration motor.
